End of year this and that

Can't believe Christmas is over. Had a fab time starting new traditions and continuing some of the old. Was GREAT not being responsible for cooking the meal which we had on Christmas Day - a new tradition as we have eaten on Christmas Eve for many years. However, I continued with the old one of giving new pyjamas to everyone - just so we were all smart for Santa!!! Christmas Eve was also my 25th wedding anniversary and we were treated to a meal in Anthony's in Leeds. WHAT A FAB RESTAURANT. Cannot tell you how good it was - would like to make a visit there a tradition as well. It's one of those places that are good to keep for 'special' occasions simple because it is SO good - roll on 26th wedding anniversary! Thoroughly recommend it.

However, thoughts must now turn to the coming year. I had a new couple email me just before Christmas who want to get married this Spring - already have some ideas but keeping them under wraps for now until I have approval. In the meantime, here are some images from our expanded website [should be live mid-January]. There are new locations, new venues, new photographers, new florists - it's all very exciting.

So all that remains for now is to wish you all
a healthy and happy 2011.

Stranded

Knowing how I go on about snow, you'd be forgiven for thinking I am in my element! NOT.

I have been in Funchal, Madeira this week to attend my eldest grandson's school christmas concert and my younger grandson's 4th birthday celebrations, complete with a Snake cake. Had great fun at both. BUT .... I needed to be back in the UK today for my baby grand-daughter's 1st birthday. The snow thought differently and right now I am in Porto! The flight took off last night for Gatwick but was turned back and we were brought back to Porto, mainland Portugal. Thanks to modern technology, I have had a skype conversation with my favourite 1-year old this morning which was fab! Thinking back to last year though, she was born during the heavy snowfalls: they started where we were on the Friday and she arrived very early on the Saturday morning. A snow baby and keeping to it this year!

Hoping to leave this evening but not TOO hopeful when I see BBC world news pictures of London airports. Next critical date is 23rd when due in Leeds for Christmas followed by 31st when due to depart for Canada!!!

So shall we re-write a few words?

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass – it’s about learning to dance in the rain.
Let's try
"Life is not about waiting for the snow to melt - it's about learning to ski/skate/board/snowshoe while you can!"
or
"Life is not about waiting for a flight to be arranged - it's about finding new sights in unexplored places!"
I really hope everyone who's at an airport now waiting to get somewhere for Christmas makes it - especially if they are going home. Good luck to you all!
Just had a photo through on my phone of grand-daughter being wished Happy Birthday on CBBeebies!!

New location

As you are aware, all summer and for a lot of the fall [autumn], I have been looking for new locations and venues to add to the website. My search has taken me all over Ontario and I have seen some beautiful places and still Niagara-on-the-Lake comes out as one of my favourite little towns. It could be that it is steeped in history or that it's surrounded by acres of vineyards and orchards or maybe it's just that there are lots of fab little one-off shops. I can never resist a visit to the christmas shop - Just Christmas. Very appropriate at this time of year but just as much fun in June!

Almost there!

Had a meeting with the web designers this morning and we are almost there. It has taken SO much time but I know it is worth it cos we will have an amazing website.

Here's a peak at the home page images.

Obviously we couldn't loose our signature red wellies or our couple in the snow!
Hope you find the new ones as inspirational.
