The story begins many years ago. A nurse, Daisy and her soldier, Harry introduced their friends - another nurse, Eileen and another soldier, David. Both friendships blossomed and there were two weddings! I only have pictures of one wedding so here are the bride & groom who met on a blind date - on a station platform, my Mum and Dad.
Fast forward from 1944 to 1948 ... both couples had their first babies! I was one and the other couple had a boy. During the years that followed, the friend and her husband now known to me as Auntie Daisy and Uncle Harry moved to Australia and the Middle East. Another son followed in Australia as did a daughter in the Middle East. Any time they came back to the UK, they stayed with us in. I had no brothers or sisters so these three, Gordon, Paul and "Little Lesley" as she was known then. became my surrogate siblings.
Auntie Daisy and Uncle Harry moved to the States and little Lesley became known as Anne. On one of her trips home, I invited Anne to my home (this is now 1973 and I'm married), and I also invited a friend of mine "Brian" better known as Steve! Are you getting the synergy? And guess what? Yup, they started going out and eventually got married.
We're now moving to the 70's when I had three children, a boy and two girls (all calling Anne & Steve, Auntie and Uncle) and Anne and Steve had four children, three girls and a boy.
Fast forward again to 2013 when Susanna got married! Following in the footsteps of her globe trotting family, she married in Australia whilst living in New York with her family all in the UK! The wedding was amazing and I admit to having tears flowing down my face when I watched the video and looked through the photos. This is the one that always brings a catch to my breath - I've known them all (except Steve and Glenn) since they were babies!
