Busy finding venues

Not complaining though. SO much better to be busy than not. Am in really good spirits anyway cos I have ticket for Take That next week.

Have just done a proposal offering 4 venues for a wedding in October of this year. Was amazed to find that some really fab venues have the Saturday I needed free. Maybe October is getting late for the Canadians to get married though I don't see why. I have been in Toronto on October 23rd - on a tour bus with friends - when the temperature was 35 degrees! Here's the proof

Info signs at Dundas Square, Toronto

And here are the venues - they are to match a wedding theme of white and gold, which I guess is a good way to narrow down the possibilities!

The Prince of Wales

The Windsor Arms

Four Seasons

One King West

Which is my favourite? You guess!

Wedding Cakes

Today I have been SO busy trying to track down a bakery in Toronto who can make me a traditional fruit cake for a couple getting married in October. In the end, I managed to find just one - the Canadians don't do fruit cake.

Their wedding cakes have wonderful flavours - French Vanilla, Raspberry, Sour Cherry Almond, Lemon, Double Chocolate, Carrot Nut Spice, Coconut, Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Espresso, Banana, Green Tea, Butter Pecan, Red Velvet ... and those are just the cake flavours!

The list starts all over again for fillings - Luscious Lemon, Heavenly Hazelnut, Mango Tango, Dreamy Cookies & Cream, Cafe Mocha, Raspberry Rapture, Canadian Maple, Mellow Mint, Tropical Pina Colada, Tempting Toasted Coconut, Creamy Caramel Pecan, Delectable Dulce de Leche, Banana Cream Pie, Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Butterscotch Ripple, Spicy Chai Latte, Passion Fruit Pash, Cappuccino, Summer Strawberry, Awesome Almond, Irish Cream Dream, White Chocolate, Green Tea and Groovy Guava !!!

And this will give you an idea of what decoration is available ...

The cakes are by Bobette & Belle, Roxycakes, Sweet Sweets, The Wedding Cake Shoppe, The Caketress, Konstadin and Labamboche who are the people who can make the fruit cake. For another day are the beautiful venues that we are suggesting for this couple.

Brides in Boots

It's something I have long been in love with - Brides in wellington boots. Our original website homepage had an image of a hemline, red wellies and snow.

I was looking at Phoebe Miller's blog, So you're getting married ... earlier and I noticed she has some on her Turquoise Tuesday entry today. I had collected these for fun but I'll share with you.

Why Ontario?

So, apart from the stunning natural settings and the fabulous Canadian hospitality - why Ontario?

There are lots of reasons, here are just a few:-

- there are no citizenship or residency requirements; blood tests or medical certificates are not required;

- you can get married anywhere [as long as your feet are on dry land to sign the marriage license], so inside, outside, unique spots, including parks, gardens, castles, forests, boardwalks, bridges, in a canoe on the lake, a deserted beach, in the Skypod of the CN Tower, on the ice rink at Nathan Phillips Square, overlooking Niagara Falls - literally anywhere;

- the ceremony can be held at any time from dawn to dusk;

- if you want, you can write the ceremony yourself and the officiant will ensure that the words required to make it legal are incorporated;

- same sex weddings have been legal in Ontario since June 11th 2003. And that is weddings not civil partnerships.

Today is a Happy Day and Penelopes

Mister Gray found himself ducking and diving and soaring and flying through the waves, jumping high to meet the beautiful breezes coming from the bay. He knew he could swim and swim and swim all through this happy day.

Penelope is my 'proper' name. It was only ever used at school or if I was in SERIOUS trouble so not something I'm called these days ... Never really liked it but it's growing on me - if it was always pronounced in the same way Maggie Smith says it, I could be tempted to use it. And about time, I hear you say! There is something about Penelope's, Pennie's and Penny's though. I've never met another one I didn't like. Do our names form our characters? Hmm, getting a bit deep so let's move on.

Anyway, today the blog features another Penelope. Penelope and Pip, their work is described as original illustrations of a world of makebelieve ... They have a Facebook page and an Etsy shop where there are cards, prints, fabric and other goodies available. I've bought fabric [for bunting] and they ship it really quickly which is great as they are in Brisbane.

Here's a some of my favourites, which I must post quickly as I love so many that I could change the selection all too quickly  ...

She glanced shyly at him from beneath her fringe and smiled a sweet little smile. They had only just met, but already the electricity sparking left and right and up and down and all around meant she just couldn't hide from him for one minute more that tiny seedling of something wonderful that comes when discover that you think you love him.

That and she really needed a lift home. It was getting late after all...

She sometimes was confused, up and down, inside out and blue. But he knew from the start, she was everything that no-one else had ever been and there was one thing he could do.

He would say to her, "I'll wait for you..."

Two little owls sitting in a tree
One loves her
And one loves he...

Meet Vera and Horace. They met in 1986 on the set of a telemovie and have been inseperable ever since. Horace loves chess and is currently halfway through a very complicated crossword on owl species. Vera enjoys scrapbooking and has been known to have a shandy before the usual time of 5:00pm - she still knows how to have fun after all these years! Fancy a party at their place? This is for a desktop calendar - WANT ONE!

They knew that things could be better somewhere else. There was surely a place where the sun was warmer, the sky was bluer, the birds songs just that much sweeter. And so they sailed away in search of something more...together...

They ducked and dived and raced and flew with grace through the pretty trees, down the alleyways of the city and up so high in the sky that only the clouds could see them to smile hello...
He knew that if he flew his love for her high in the sky, soon she'd see she made him fly...

Peter has stumbled on a very beautiful tree. It's little love heart leaves are dropping and soon, when the little zephyrs that herald spring return, a new love tree will bloom.

It had started out as lazy summer sailing, but as the waves grew steadily higher and a blustery bout of rain blew in, the little blue bunny wondered if perhaps she should have paid more attention as to how to raise the sail. Never mind, she thought, if worse comes to worse, she could snuggle in the bottom of the boat and have a little nap until the wild waves were calm again...

I suppose I should have featured more fabric for bunting but there's really to many fab prints to choose from so hope you love these as much as I do.

We Heart Pictures

I have just found this AMAZING photography website. We Heart Pictures: "Rocking Wedding Photography by London based creative team We Heart Pictures." There are some beautiful images but you need to click the link to look at them.

My garden - again

As you can see, my garden has changed completely - gone are all the blues and creams. Now we are in the pink and red phase! Mainly roses and peonies with just one struggling "love-in-a-mist" plant.

BUT ... what more could a female want?

Roses from a favourite boy.
