Scotland, Ontario & Tartan

If you look closely at a map of Ontario you will find lots of towns named the same as towns in Scotland - Hamilton, Perth, Fergus are three that come instantly to mind. So it is understandable that there must be a deep connection that goes back over a long period of time. Highland Games abound in the summertime, Burns' Night Balls & Dinners are far more commonplace than here and there is a BIG St Andrew's Day Charity Ball held at the Royal York in Toronto. Many couples from Scotland go over to Ontario for their 'destination wedding' and equally, Ontario couples are heading for Scotland. Obviously, the sun & sand wedding is finding competition!

So ... I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise that there is an official Maple Leaf Tartan.

Designed to incorporate the changing colours of the maple leaf, it was officially recognised as a symbol of Canada in March of this year. And very pretty it is.

There is the full explanation of it's history and significance on the Department of Canadian Heritage website.

I have a scarf for the winter.

"Kimberly" sure gets around ...

The first thing I have to do is to apologise if your name is Kimberly - I doubt it is you I'm referring to. The Kimberly I mean, is the one who is planning a wedding "in my area" - ceremony, venue and reception with "Videography, Music Entertainment, Photography, Officiant, cake and flowers" "30 to 40 guests expected to attend" AND a "budget of $40, 000 USD but will allow a few extra if necessary".

Today, she is going to marry Howard Webb [howardwebbmails@ymail.com] in November 2011 [any date is fine].

Obviously, they will need to pay with a credit card.

Has anyone else had this email or one similar? And why is it always Kimberly? Because she's Victoria Wood's friend? Must check out YouTube and see if I can find a old clip.

Hi, we're back !!!

It's been such a busy summer but we're back now. Whatever we're doing or wherever we are, we're always looking for photographers we haven't yet discovered. Think these guys [well, girls to be correct] were something special and have added them to our list of favourites. They are Verve Photo Co.  "based in Toronto, but with no bounderies on where they'll travel to photograph a wedding" (their words). These are some of our favourite pictures.
